One hundred years after the State School of Mines and Metallurgy, now UTEP, conferred Engineer of Mines degrees to three graduates at the first Commencement in 1916, nearly 2,700 students celebrated their graduation from The University of Texas at El Paso on May 14, 2016 – the largest graduating class in the institution’s history.
UTEP President Diana Natalicio assured graduates that every ceremony represents a special promise of bold new beginnings and unlimited possibilities.
“I am moved and inspired by the fact that this University has played a major role in unlocking your potential and transforming your future,” President Natalicio said. “This is a great moment for you and for all of us who have been a part of your higher education journey.”
